File systems can keep backups to restore previous versions in case of a crush or corruption of files. ZFS, for example, is a free open-source file system to keep data integrity and take snapshots of the data at a point in time making it easy to restore previous versions of your servers. It is an incredibly sophisticated system and can be a potent tool if used effectively. It is available for Linux and Unix and it’s fairly easy to install and manage on Ubuntu.
